The first week of January was xmas tree pick-up week in my neighbourhood. I'd seen the trees accumulate on my street and it was interesting to see how they got moved around throughout the week (of course the city was a week late in the pick-up). Our tree ended up across and down the street by the end. So one evening I bundled up and spent some time photographing all these discarded Christmas accessories. Kind of sad how we just throw them away in the end.

In Calgary you have drop off your trees at a special place for them to be turned into mulch for gardens.
ReplyDeleteYou know I jump to the worst conclusions whenever it comes to the city. It's very possible that Montreal does the same with their trees after picking them up. I'll have to find out.
ReplyDeleteKate I really love this series, Oh the colors are so good! I love the subject matter as well. In Montreal at that time of the year we all know we are in for the long haul of winter. These shots for me capture that feeling. Right ON!
ReplyDeleteThanks Evita!
ReplyDeleteCame past your blog following Rob Haggart's site. Do you know Magnum photographer Peter Marlow? He's done something similar: http://blog.magnumphotos.com/2008/01/its_that_time_of_year_again.html
ReplyDeleteLike your work by the way.
Jeroen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link. I did in fact see those images and they inspired me to take my own. For those who haven't seen them be sure to check out Jeroen's link,
Kate.
