More from the weekend with Dominique. This whole event was actually orchestrated by my Dad. For his 60th birthday he wanted my whole family to spend the day with Dominique, do a traditional sweat lodge, and stay in a tepee. Luckily Dominique was amazing and the tepee was very comfortable (top photo). The sweat lodge was a real test of will though. I, who doesn't particularly like hot temperatures, managed to stay in for the full two and a half hours! It really was a spiritual experience and a test of willpower. The bottom photo is our soaked clothing drying in the sun. All clothes that went into the sweat lodge (and us women had to be almost fully covered) ended up soaked with sweat. We did go for a cold dip afterwards though. No photos were allowed in and around the sweat lodge area.

A few weeks ago I was privileged enough to spend the day with Algonquin medicine man Dominique (T8aminik) Rankin. The first photo is Dominique explaining how the trees are his ancestors and how he feels their presence whenever he walks in the woods. The second photo is a trail marker in the woods. The third photo is Dominique at the edge of the bison enclosure.

Was away in beautiful Kingston, Ontario for a few days. Nice to be somewhat in the country again. Here are photos from another country day: at the St Marie de Kent Fair in New Brunswick this past August.

An old building near my house that will soon be completely gutted and made into condos. Ahh beautiful window light!

Photos of Nancy Kendle. Nancy and I taught together at f/start this summer. On a field trip I noticed these beautiful lighting situations and so I asked Nancy if she would allow me to take her portrait. She agreed and so we ran around taking these photos during a break.

More photos of Chris' grandmother Bernice Giddens (called Nan by all) from a weekend in August when we stayed with her in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. In the top she is showing us her princess Diana mug from her mug collection and in the second she is showing Chris an American seviceman's bible from WW II. To see more photos from our weekend with Nan check out Sept 12th's post.

So for thanksgiving dinner last week I was given the job of topping and tailing the green beans and cutting up the squash. So of course I used the opportunity to take some photos of these beautiful vegetables. Also, if you're in Montreal check out Mark Slutsky's show "Looking Around" at General 54 (54 St Viateur W). His photos are HDRs from around the neighbourhood and they'll be up till Nov 24th.

Happy Canadian thanksgiving! Here are photos from another big holiday weekend around here: St Jean Baptiste. A bunch of us went for a one night canoe camping trip that weekend. Some beer was consumed as you can see.

A few sink photos that I inadvertently collected over the past year. I didn't know that I liked taking photos of sinks specifically but when I looked at my scrapbook of photos I found quite a few. How I love my scrapbook, it is constantly educating me!

More photos from F/start this summer (photo camp I co-founded and teach at). I love the different expressions people have when they're photographing!
