I live in The Mile End neighbourhood of Montreal and there is a large Portuguese contingent here. Religious parades go up my street a few times every summer and then there's the Portuguese festival. Well I don't know what it's really called because I don't speak Portuguese, but basically every August the parking lot in front of the Portuguese church becomes a party ground. There is the pit where you can cook your own meat (top photo), an hour and a half line up for traditional Portuguese bread (I know because I waited in line!), music and much more. Above are some of my impressions of this fun night.

  2. Oscar,
The Mile end is getting pricey but there are still deals available. You just have to know someone who is leaving one of the cheaper places. Thanks for your comments!

  5. Love the top photo, very strong composition, and lot's of character in the men's faces. All your photos seem to be square and have that lovely film-look. Are you shooting medium-format?

  6. Anton,
You are right! All square photos on my blog are medium format film images. Thanks for taking the time to look through old posts on my blog,
    Kate.
