The last Ferrero Rocher

A metaphor for the last few days of summer. For most people the coming of fall is depressing, but I find it uplifting. It is when I wake up from the haze that warm weather inflicted upon me. I am ready to go! And good thing too since I am teaching 2 classes at Champlain (in Creative Arts) and 2 classes at Dawson (in AEC photography). And I am not the only one waking up from the slumber. Galleries all over the city are opening exciting shows this coming week. Here are my picks:

Chris with his morning banana.

Sorry for my absence recently. I am enjoying another busy summer at f/start. Teenagers are awesome but they can sure tire you out! But working with Aislinn and Peter makes every day fun and full of laughs. I may post only sporadically till mid-August. I hope you are enjoying your summer.

Voltron sleeping. When he is not being the devil he is pretty cute. Sometimes I think it might be fun to be a pet photographer.

Since tomorrow is the first day of summer I thought I would look back on some winter photos. It's amazing to me that this past weekend I was swimming in the lake pictured in the top 3 images, and that the marsh full of tracks in the bottom 2 images is now full of frogs and tadpoles. Happy summer solstice!

More from Florida Southern College.

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

I am currently reading "The Fellowship: The Untold Story of Frank Lloyd Wright & The Taliesin Fellowship" by Roger Friedland and Harold Zellman. It's a great read about an egotistical and crazy man who's work I love. So I thought I would revisit some photos of his Florida Southern College that I took in the summer of 2008. The best photos from that visit here and here.

For the past few months I had a wonderful gig at CBC. I worked for the radio show Rendez-Vous. This show brought together francophone and anglophone musicians and had them work together in the studio. And I got to be there to photograph them! Some great artists were present and it was a joy to photograph them at work. You can hear the recordings at the Rendez-Vous website.

Above are some images from the recording sessions:
#1 and 2: Sarah Slean and Jorane
#3 and 4: Luc De Larochelliere and Alejandra Ribera
#5 and 6: Daniel Lavoie and Jeremy Fisher
#7 and 8: Amelia Curran and Caracol
#9, 10 and 11: Marie-Pierre Arthur and The Barr Brothers

"Ulysses, a personal journey"
Shade cord at Searson's pub, Dublin

I recently joined Facebook and it has been distracting me. As well the nice weather has been keeping me from the computer. I will try to get back on track and blog more!

More from "Ulysses, a personal journey"
These two images were taken in Sandycove at the old swimming spot The Forty Foot. My father loves to swim there every time he goes to Dublin and for these images he agreed to swim in the cold Irish Sea just after sun rise (at about 5:30 am). In James Joyce's "Ulysses" the med student roommate of Stephen (the artist) swims at The Forty Foot in the morning while Stephen watches. And so having my father, the doctor swim while I photographed seemed appropriate to our adaptation and reclamation of the novel.
