This summer Montreal, along with other Canadian cities, played host to the FIFA under 20 World Cup. Being big soccer fans Chris and I went to quite a few games but a real highlight for me was the Portugal Gambia game. We live in a Portuguese neighbourhood so we were able to buy our tickets from the local grocery store. The owners there sold approximately 2500 tickets from their little store! At the game most of the crowd was in Portuguese colours and were intensely invested in every move. It was quite a dramatic game with Gambia competing well even though they were down a man for much of the game. Luckily for us, and most of the crowd, Portugal ended up winning the game. Watching the games this summer it was so exciting to see people of all different backgrounds coming out to support their team. Montreal is such a great city for diversity. It's one of the things I like most about this city.
