The Park 40
Some scenes from the park at the end of the summer. It definitely doesn't look like this now! I was out in the cold snow yesterday photographing tobogganers, skiers, snow shoers and more. Can't wait for more winter photos.

The Park 38
2 great beards. I don't know anything about the top guy. That photo was taken on a Sunday at tam tams towards the end of the summer and he stopped just long enough for me to take one exposure. In contrast I talked quite a bit with the gentleman in the bottom 2 photos. He had just finished a yoga sun salutation, and before that he had been grocery shopping at Segal's.

The Park 37
From a Sunday at the end of the summer. At the Mont Royal gazebo where DJs play electronic music on Sundays.

The Park 36
Photos from this year's UCI Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal. Somewhat topical since yesterday Canadian cyclist Ryder Hesjedal (who came third in this race) was accused of doping. See the info about the allegations and his defense here.

The Park 35 (group 3)
A group of young people from all around North America who were just
traveling through Montreal. Hidden in a dark area of the park, I almost
didn't approach this group. They were obviously looking for some privacy
and an area that they could claim for the night. I'm so glad that I did
approach them and take this photo, as they were very friendly and
accommodating.

The Swap
My portrait of my good friend and fellow photographer Aislinn Leggett. Aislinn and I participated in the newest Stuart Pilkington project, this one called The Swap. I took a portrait of Aislinn and she took a portrait of me! To see the image she took of me look here.

The Park 34 (group 2)
Workout ladies. This summer I often saw groups of women participating in circuit training in the park and was always so inspired by their level of exertion. This is one such group.

The Park 33 (group 1)
The first of a few groups that I scanned high res so that you can see more detail.
This group was photographed on a Sunday and they were a pretty rowdy bunch. One of the young men suggested that he might take his pants off for the photo. I replied that he better watched what he promised since I would surely photograph it if he did take his pants off. They laughed, the pants stayed on, and this photo was taken.

Unseen Dummy Award
Last week the photo book dummy award winner was chosen at the Unseen Photo Fair. My "Ulysses, a personal journey" was on the shortlist and was on display at the fair. The winner was Heikki Kaski with "Tranquility". I wish I could have seen all the books, I'm sure it was quite a sight! There were no honourable mentions but I was gratified that my book was mentioned in the announcement of the winner. See here.

The Park 27
A yoga class here at the bottom. And the slack rope walker in fact learned how to walk the line in the park, and now seems to be quite a pro himself.

The Park 26
More from The Park. What with teaching starting again at Dawson I have neglected the blog a bit, but I do have lots more material to put up and will schedule a few upcoming posts. So far they have all been summer shots, but welcome fall, I am looking forward to shooting in a new season! So from the top we have: girls putting away tent poles at the end of the day at the Hare Krishna festival; a food truck worker; and 2 wonderful Quebecois women whom I had the pleasure of having a drink with, they now live in Australia and Berlin and had a reunion meet up in the park that they grew up coming to.
