Some recent meals

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I almost forgot to share with you my recent feature on the great blog Feature Shoot. I was lucky enough to have my work appear on the blog twice in one week. Last week I was included in the Theme Friday: The Kitchen Sink. Then yesterday my Irish Grandmother series was on the blog. Thanks Feature Shoot!

Some images from a wonderful chipper van in Kingston, Ontario.

In another recent trip to Ontario I went to the newly redesigned and reopened Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Frank Gehry's design, despite the huge costs and problems, is absolutely incredible. It makes the AGO a world-class museum that all will enjoy visiting. I particularly enjoyed the two side by side Alex Colvilles: two paintings of his wife, done 33 years apart. As well I loved Montrealer David Altmejd's large sculpture "The Index". Lastly an old favourite of mine: The Henry Moore room. This space wasn't changed in the redesign and I am happy for that, it is so well laid out the way that it is.

This summer at the cottage. I love fall but it is a little sad that real summer is gone.

Chris inside this summer.

Chris outside this summer.

I went to The Belgo Building today (372 St Catherine Street West, Montreal). Most of the Belgo's galleries have woken up from their summer slumber and because it is Mois de la Photo right now a lot of galleries are showing photographs. Definitely worth a visit. Some galleries are only open Wednesday to Saturday so I didn't choose the best day, but still saw a lot of good work.

Images from my father's work life.

Sorry I've been neglecting the blog recently. I should be back to regular programming from now on.

Fellow Concordia photo MFA student Karen Zalamea has her thesis show "WORK WORK WORK" up at Galerie Simon Blais until September 5th. If you are in Montreal it is definitely worth a visit. Karen I hope your thesis defense went well today!
